Overview of The Seer 12-Lesson Class with James W. Goll
Section One: Understanding the Seer Realm
Lesson 1: Seer and Prophet: Two Prophetic Streams
The “prophet” and the “seer” represent two different dimensions of receiving messages from God that he wants to convey to his people. The prophet is the communicative dimension, hearing primarily through words. The seer is the receptive dimension, receiving primarily through pictures in various forms like visions and dreams. In this opening lesson, you will learn the similarities and differences between these two streams, how the prophetic comes, and the manifold purpose of these spiritual gifts.
Lesson 2: Dimensions of the Prophetic Anointing
In this lesson, you will learn seven different ways that the prophetic anointing can be received and released, including the purpose of each along with Biblical and contemporary examples. These include dreams and visions, and the proclamation of God’s corporate purpose, God’s heart standards, the church’s social responsibilities and actions, administrative strategies of God, prophetic worship leaders, and prophetic intercession. You will also discover five additional prophetic anointings prominent today.
Lesson 3: Vision: The Power that Sustains
Scripture tells us that where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained (or perish). It is vital that we learn to set our sights on God’s goal and priorities for our lives. Developing our capacity to see in the Holy Spirit is part of learning to receive communication from God in all the ways He speaks. It is important to present each part of our bodies, including our eyes, to the Lord so they are set apart for his purposes. In this lesson, you will learn how to be a person of vision.
Lesson 4: The Diversity of Visionary States
There is only one Holy Spirit, but he works and speaks in many different ways, including visionary states and experiences. In this lesson you will explore eight different Greek words that describe different aspects of visionary revelation, including the words (translated): dreams, visions while asleep, waking visions, internal or external visions, apparitions, trances, divine revelations, and to become in Spirit. This lesson will help expand your perception of ways you can see spiritually.
Section Two: Spiritual Discernment
Lesson 5: Wisely Judging Revelatory Encounters
Regardless of the various ways God speaks to us, it is imperative that we interpret the revelation properly in order to receive the wisdom, understanding and counsel He is imparting. Subjective revelation must be checked against the Word of God and the counsel of other solid believers. In this lesson, you will learn how to test every spirit to find out whether it is from God, the devil, or your own flesh. You will also receive nine solid scriptural tests for judging and discerning revelation.
Lesson 6: Discerning of Spirits
Discerning of spirits is the supernatural capacity to judge whether the motivating spirit behind certain words or deeds is human, demonic or divine. This spiritual gift can discern in four different categories: Holy Spirit, angels, human spirits, and evil spirits. In this lesson, you will learn the purpose of discerning of spirits, many examples of its use in scripture, and six important guidelines for operating in this gift in your own life.
Section Three: Dreams, Visions, and Other Heavenly Realms
Lesson 7: Dream Language
Dreams are one of the three different avenues (along with visions and trances) of visionary revelation the Holy Spirit uses to speak into our lives. Scripture and church history are full of examples of God speaking to His people in dreams and God is consistent in His symbolic language. In this lesson, you will learn how to interpret dreams first using scripture and then your own life. You will receive a classification of symbols and colors, along with the basic principles of interpreting numbers within your dreams.
Lesson 8: Levels of Supernatural Visions
In this lesson, you will receive teachings on 12 different levels of supernatural visions. Each level includes a scriptural reference, a definition, and examples, applications, cautions or insights. These visionary levels include spiritual perception, pictorial vision, panoramic vision, dream (sleeping vision), audible message, an appearance (apparition), divine sight, open heaven, trance, out-of-body experience, translation, and heavenly visitation.
Lesson 9: The Ecstatic Realms of the Spirit
In this lesson, you will explore different ecstatic experiences represented in scripture. In many cases these experiences are translated using the word “trance” and other times “amazed,” “amazement,” and “astonishment.” There are greater and lesser degrees of ecstatic experiences. You can be shocked, amazed, and joyfully “caught up” in your emotions due to the wondrous activity of the Holy Spirit. Or, your natural bodily functions may be temporarily “put on pause,” in a trance. Either way, this Greek word ekstasis denotes a positive experience and is where we get the word “ecstasy.”
Section Four: Intimacy: The Goal of All Things
Lesson 10: Standing in the Council of God
Some aspects of God’s character are very much like us. He has revelation—or secrets—that He doesn’t just share with anyone, but rather with his intimate friends. In this lesson, you will learn about what it means to stand in the council of God—whether in the body, apart from the body, or out of the body. You will discover hindrances to receiving God’s counsel and dynamics of the fear of the Lord. Finally, you will receive wisdom ways for allowing God to be in control of your subjective experiences.
Lesson 11: Hidden Streams of the Prophetic
In this lesson, you will discover the road to greater intimacy with God through the Christian practice of contemplative prayer. This is not a technique or “new age” approach to meditation, but rather the pursuit of experiencing communion with God Himself. Better described, contemplative prayer allows you to become aware of the presence of God and live out of that awareness. You’ll learn the goals and benefits of contemplative prayer, cautions and important places of balance to maintain, and how to find rest in God’s presence.
Lesson 12: The Key of Intimacy to Open Heavens
Our desperate need today is to be so hungry for God that we cry out for open heavens to come over our lives, our families, and our cities. Is Jesus “at home” in your house? God is looking for candidates in this generation who will be seated with Christ in the heavenly places and call forth God’s destiny and design into the earth realm. In this lesson, you’ll explore how this has happened in history past and receive an invitation to intimately pursue the God of visitation so you can accomplish the seer’s ultimate goal: to reveal Christ Jesus!
